It seems we need a permit that we didn’t think we needed before we can move in to the new location.  We are hoping to worship at our current location through the end of July - I gotta call them after this posting - and hopefully the governmental stuff will be taken care of by then or shortly thereafter.  We hope.  I can tell you we are working feverishly to get this done and we have no doubt it will take care of itself.  Prayers would be great though!

I’ve been trying forever to get Hulu video to work here. It does now (although not as neatly as I’d like). But enjoy this Office clip.

So we have been working hard on the new storefront and it looks good. The drop ceiling is in, the walls have been repaired, and most of the painting is done. You should walk by and check it out sometime. Its nice. Thanks to all for the hard work. We’ll be back there on Sunday July 5th @ 2 having a “clean-up” day. The more hands we have to work, the faster it will go.

So we were going to have a painting party tomorrow after church at 3pm. We are not. Still work to do before we paint. But we will have a work party - anybody who can use power tools is welcome to come. 3pm. New location.

In Paul’s sermon on Sunday he mentioned some current scholars believe that Van Gogh was actually mentally ill and so all of his paintings that seem slightly “off” like his famous “Starry Night” may actually have been the way he saw the world.  It’s also believed that Monet may have become more and more near sighted as he aged - meaning he didn’t invent Impressionism, he just painted what he saw and we are in awe of it today.  This is the way that God’s Word starts to work in our lives.  It changes us over time and we see the world differently because of it - in ways that can have beautiful, huge impact on our world.  Jesus promises that he will complete the work he has started in us - a work that includes shaping us through his mercy, compassion and grace and hopefully we will start to look more and more like he looks.  Seeing the world as it should be, not as it is.  Sorta like Van Gogh and Monet.

To the millions of people who download our sermons we must issue an apology.  Paul’s sermon this week on Samuel did not get recorded.  It was a shame as Paul had a stunning analogy about classic artwork and prophecy.  In fact, I liked it so much I’ll be blogging about the idea tomorrow.  I hope its enlightening for both those who heard the sermon and those who did not.

It has been a while since a video of the week, but this is awesome.  Is it bad to laugh at a narcoleptic dog?  I did, and then I felt a twinge (just a small one) of guilt - the dog looks kinda miserable.

Apologies to all of our faithful Sunday night worshippers but we won’t be around at 7 pm any longer.  There will be a whole lot of content coming up on the website in the next week.  I can’t access it from work any longer and that sucks and slows me down.  But school is over today and so you’ll get a ton of new stuff and updates on our move.  Lawyers are looking over the lease right now!…

Everyone is getting married this weekend.  Keith & Rachel on Friday @ 4 out at our Brecksville location.  If you are reading this, you should come.  I’m inviting you.  There’s a map if you look at our locations page. It’s a potluck reception afterward, so bring some food to eat.  Andrew & Leslie are getting married in Youngstown on Saturday.  Wish them well - but I can’t invite you to that one.  Peter Franz is getting married in another state.  I’m not sure which one, so don’t attempt to attend.

So we had a church meeting tonight (5/26).  It was fun.  we talked about the- hopeful- upcoming move to 15715 Madison.  It’s on the corner of Madison and Hilliard.  It has a parking lot, air conditioning, we could use it all the time.  All in all, it will be better than where we currently are - although we wish much love to Lakewood Lutheran school as they have been nothing but wonderful to us.  We will need to do some fixing up of the new location -painting, drywalling, etc.  Anyone who is interested should let Chris or Paul know so you stay in the loop.  We also discussed ways to reach into and love the community.  We talked about having some cookouts at the park across the street, prayer walks, and other stuff.  Ideas are always welcome.

About Us

  • Churches often come across as cold, boring, and irrelevant. We see church in a different way. Church doesn’t have to be boring. The love of Christ doesn’t have to be a cliché. Church can be a place where people can experience the love of God and the fellowship of his people in a personal way. It can proclaim the risen Savior and serve the needs of the community. It can change society. We are people who have found and are finding life, hope, and purpose in Jesus Christ.
Feel free to join us. Sundays 10am. Corner of Detroit & Lakeland in Lakewood.
